Dogs in Hot Cars

Alright. So, I'm on Facebook, duh, and it really annoys me when these animal protection groups/ humane societies post these dramatic things about "Don't ever leave your dog in the hot car" and put temps up there. What these animal freaks (and I'm a freak so that's not an insult) don't know is that dogs, no matter what breed, have an extra layer of fur that act in hot weather sorta like their winter coat does in cold weather. This layer keeps out the heat, and keeps in the coolness. The reason that so many people mess this up is that it is CRUCIAL that a dog has water to drink. It won't be hurt by the heat, but it will dehydrate twice, if not three times, as fast as it would in the winter, and people confuse the need of water with "don't keep your dog in a hot car at all". I was seriously lucky that I ran across this, and believe me I know what I'm talking about.
Basically, you can have your dog in a hot car, but I suggest only for an hour MAX. It's still true what people say, they've just exaggerated it over the years. Thanks guys.
